Last week while running,  the side of my knee hurt- my avid running friends said "you need new shoes" I bought new shoes from Steve during the Marathon Expo. They look and feel great. I went out this morning the first 1.6 miles I felt great - but thennnnnnnnnn. Im in pain - Ive been icing it all morning. Sitting is ok - Stairs, not an option. Its like its locked in place.

Ouch. So your knee feels locked up? You ran/went another 1.4 miles after the pain started? Shoes do need a break in period, I've heard 6 ish hours (walking/wearing). I suppose we need to give our body an adjustment period as well. Maybe you should wear your shoes walking for a couple days, 2 miles a day.

But, what do I know. FRUSTRATING for sure!!!

I really hope thats all it is - Shoes. I walked in them all day Saturday but didnt wear them again until today. I will walk tomorrow and see how it goes. THANKS!

I say take the week off!!

From sunnyrun on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 22:35:29

I would except I ALWAYS take the week off. Im just starting to get "good" (for me)lol. I want to run the Save the Sister on the 24th. So, I have to overcome this!!!!!!

I think that the point is, live to run another day! Go out, start off walking, build to a jog. At the first hint of pain, call it off. Walk home, live to run another day! You have many many many races and running days to come in your life, don't risk long term.

I just read this last night in RunnersWorld magazine. Do you want to run this month or do you want to run today or the rest of your life? Something like that. Good advice.

Hope it feels better soon and let us know how that race goes! And you can always walk in a race if you have to---finishing is all that matters.

Good Advice :) Thanks

I'm excited for you to make progress. I'm thinking about running that Save a Sister race, it goes towards the running series, and I want to get my two races out of the way.

Crud!!! I am so sorry about the knee! I hope it feels better! Got to remember the mantra "Live to run another day!!"

So, did we do the race or are we still in too much pain??

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 11:39:25

Race isnt until the 25th - so Im still working on the aches and pains - have walked a lot - jogged to the corner and back, so far so good.

From Kelli on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 12:29:28

Oh, da! I thought it was this past weekend for some reason.

Keep at it, you will do great!

From jona on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 13:31:11

Good there is no pain! Extend to the next corner now. You will rock that race. Go go go.

From sunnyrun on Sun, Nov 02, 2008 at 16:31:31

Hey Girl! Doing ok, mainly riding my bike, dosnt seem to hurt my knee, like running still does. Just read your blog - I love your quote! I know what you mean about candy and fasting!! :)

From jona on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 11:35:47

Sunnyrun, where are you?

I think we need a new post so that you can bring us up to speed on how you are doing! Come on, you can do it, the keys are right there in front of you, just start typing, let it all out. It will feel good!

Hope all is well!
