Wow... and I thought I was busy! :) Welcome to the blog! 2 miles is much better than 1 mile and even better than zero!

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 13:20:21

Your name has been on every Blog I have visited this morning---so I decided to visit yours!

I think it is great that you are running. Although it seems like the "it" thing to do sometimes, look at how many people are still in bed! You are AMAZING!!! 6 kids (all at home?), working full time, and you find the time to run and take care of yourself! I did not begin my running journey until I quit working---so you are miles ahead of me and much more dedicated!

You should come visit us all when we are in ST George for the marathon! They need to host a party or something for all of the bloggers so we can all meet!

Have a great week this week and keep it up!!!

(OH, when you figure out how to not feel winded, let me know! I can not figure it out, really. I am a heavy breather--people can hear me coming for my miles!)

From walter on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 13:27:07

Hey Kelli that is a great Idea for SGM! Im going to call Steve Hooper today and see what we can do! It takes tons of races to see and get to know everyone.

From Sunnyrun on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 14:10:17

Great Idea about having a get together in SG druing the Marathon! On Wednesdays I run with "real" runners (most are Boston Quals) a few of them are running SGM, so lets plan something. I get way more excited about parties than I do running :)

From walter on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 15:23:33

Oh yes it is very clever! I called Steve Hooper and got his answering machine. Ill try later on today and I'll call Sasha also. I think we could look into a pavillion afterwards or even do it before the run. Ill get back to you guys today.

From Dustin on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 16:08:37

We've had a few pre-race dinners in the past and they have been well attended by bloggers, it is a nice chance to get to meet people and exchange good running stories, plus get excited for the race the next day.

From walter on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 17:20:11

Hey yeah, Dustin! If anyone would know of any plans it would be Dustin. I think we should do a pre race spaghetti buffet! Dont you think so? We could plan it for about 6 pm just like Logan's pre race dinner he had up in Ogden. We can all bring something. Like at Logan's house when we had 6 months supply of french bread! lol Yeah Dustin, get on it. Ill help you if you can get ahold of Steve. Ill try Sasha today. Lets do this! Lets light this candle!

From Michelle N. on Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 17:32:07

You guys are all funny but I do think a Private blogger Pasta Party in a Pavilion would be Perfect!!!

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 14:01:06

I like this group already - Ive been a member one week, and a party is in the works. Since I will be meeting everyone in person and cant hide behind my blog, I better get out there and start running!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 14:31:47

A regular bunch of party animals we are.

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 16:46:44

Oh for sure get out and run but dont forget to have fun doing it! Dont be shy to come up to us at races either we love meeting you.

From Sunnyrun on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 17:31:47

I will, thanks. I also want to see Kellis shirt for the Hobble Creek run. Post photos :)

From walter on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 19:07:09

Ok I talked to some St. George locals and Im going to post a message on the discussion forum and we can plan on a get together down there. Last year Clyde had it at his in laws and said close to 50 people came so I wont impose on anyones house but Ill see if anyone wants to volunteer their house or a location. I cant believe all the people Ive met in the last week on here in person! Its fun! We are truely all crazy thats why we get along! lol

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 20:51:54

My shirt is not that exciting---promise! I have no clue how to post a picture---mine are too big. I am not a computer person at all!

From walter on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 21:31:30

Hey sunnyrun, her shirts are not big! She may be computer illiterate but her shirts are not big. We will definitely have to get a get together down there.

From jody on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 21:59:28

Kelli - compress it down. Select the picture you want and the resave it in a compressed format OR you can crop it down using photoshop. Either will work.

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 11:50:36

Kelli, if you would like, I can convert a picture for you. Or if you want to, I can walk you through it so you can do it yourself. Either way, happy to help.

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 12:33:17

I HAVE TRIED!!! I am dumb. I know this. Maybe a step by step walk through would work, but no guarantees!

And, Walter, my shirts are LARGE---I just checked.

From Sunnyrun on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 13:03:48

K jona - start walikin Kelli through this, and all because I want to see Kellis "large" shirt - lol

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 14:09:32

Ok Kelli,

Follow this link:

http://www.download.com/VSO-Image-Resizer/3000-2193_4-10529104.html?tag=fd_dek

click on the blue "Download Now".

After it is downloaded you need to run the program you just downloaded. I'll skip those steps.

After it is installed, run the program.

It should take you straight to choosing a picture to resize. Find a picture you want to resize.

Choose a size from the "Profile" list that you want it re-sized to, "640x480" should work.

Make sure the action is "Make Copy".

Click on "Ok".

By default it will name the new picture the same name as the old with the "Profile" added to the end. (for example fireworks.jpg would be fireworks [640x480].jpg)

Easy.

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 14:11:13

Looks like the link had a problem, copy that whole thing, all the way to the "dek" part, and paste it in your web browser address bar.

From Michelle N. on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 17:21:31

Okay Jon-You thought you were helping Kelli but you just helped me. I finally got a picture on my profile. Thanks!!! Even though you didn't know you helped.

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:43:30

Great, Michelle. BUT I still am dumb. I went through all of that from your first post (the link worked for me). It all worked, but I dunno where I saved it to.

I hate computers.

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:50:21

Kelli, Computers are dumb, they can't do anything unless people tell them to, so your actually the smart one.

I sent you a message outside of this discussion, but it basically says to look in the location of the original picture, that should be where you find the new picture.

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:00:34

Yeah Kelli, you smarty pants you! I like the way Jon put that. I am smarter than this computer! It takes me all night to get this stupid computer to make a CD for me from my saved songs. I cant wait for technology to just make something smarter than me! How was that Jon? By the way did you see we just helped sunnyrun (I dont know your name) get on the Hot topic discussion board. I miss one day of typing on the computer all day because I have to work and get trumped by the newby! lol Thats it!

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:04:18

Walter, I've been watching that hot topic list and seeing this discussion climb and climb and climb.

watch out, your # 2 spot is in jeopardy!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:10:40

Whatever. Computers have a bigger brain than I do. It is not there. I will try again!

And way to go Sunnyrun on being a hot topic!! Walter needed to have his big head shrunk a little anyway!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:14:46

OH!!!! I DID IT, I DID IT!!!!! If you could see what a mess my "photo folder" is you would understand why it took so long! It was in there under about a 100 different subtitles, but I found it!

Anyway, now as you all rush to see the picture, about all you can see are my teeth! At least they are white. That is the only running picture I have---from last years TOU. I am much cuter (and older) now.

I gotta get a better picture!

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 20:08:06

Its about freakin time Kelli! so which one is you? lol Im kidding, I digress, ok Im sorry already! and you can click on the picture and it will enlarge to see you clearer! I see you ran the TOU! Its funny, I have bumped into you im sure before this blog helped us all become a great big happy family!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 20:43:44

Shoot! I didn't know that! I am gonna remove it, then, cause I like being anonymous!

And, I am sure you were not waiting around at the marathon finish line last year 2 hours after you finished so I could come passing through. You were long gone!

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:58:02

Sorry Walter (not really)! Since I cant out run you, I will have to out "Hot Topic" you!! lol I have been at the SGM finish line the past two years. I work in the media down here, so Im sure Ive seen you ALL!!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:24:31

Thats cool you work at the finish line. You'll definitely have to get with us on a dinner before the race and then you can give us an extra special finish greeting.

I think mine would go something like this: Ladies and Gentleman, Walter Brown! Lets get ready to rumble! lol

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:30:28

IF/when I ever cross that finish line, there had better be a Big Band, streamers and all the hoop'la waiting for me!!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:32:15

There will be---you better believe it!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 15:11:13

Hot topic! Ok you win. Now its time for you to post a photo.

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 18:21:35

I dont have any photos of just me, Im always the one taking the pictures. I'll see what I can find. lol

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 18:26:33

I know me too! I have to wait for a race to put my picture in it.

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 18:33:58

I just found one of me at the SGM finish line last year - hahah too funny, Ill have to post it later

So we have had company in town the past few days, my body requires sleep, I havent had much the past week due to the Olympics, now with company......ahhh

This morning as Im in bed, tired, debating if the kids really need to be woke up for school, if I really need to go to work, all while thinking "theres no way I can run today" I remember Lucia's words  "2 miles is much better than 1 mile and even better than zero" So I jumped (well lumbered) out of bed and rode my bike on a trail right by our home.  That way I got a few miles in and was home energized and ready to make breakfast and start car pools all before the stroke of 7am.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 14:45:03

It is amazing what we will do and how early we will get up just to get our ME TIME! Who would ever have thought, with all us mothers have to do, that we would sacrifice our sleep to work out??

GOOD FOR YOU!!! On mornings like that, I typically LOSE the battle. Here is to another successful day of getting out of bed long before we want to.

From Lucia on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 15:07:25

You are amazing! I'm glad my words helped! One day at a time, a few miles every morning, and you're under way!

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 15:30:29

Thanks Kelli and Lucia! Have a great day and lets not be overthrown by the children and injuries that creep up in our lives :)

From jona on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 16:31:49

Great job getting out of bed!

Company always makes it difficult to stick to a routine. And kids, now that school started, you can march those "little soldiers" to bed. :-)

I ran with "the Wednesday morning group" this morning. Rolling out of bed at 4:50am is WAY too earlier for me, but I not only managed to get up, I ran my best run today!!  YEA! Now for all you pros, 4 miles isnt much, but for me to only walk once up a hill was Fantastic (I usually walk twice)  Im really proud of myself, if I do say so!!!

Great job of cross training and staying constant.

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 13:35:35

YEAH!!! Great job---we are all PROUD OF YOU! That is awesome. And maybe next time you won't have to walk at all---you never know!

The area where I live and run is full of hills, no matter which way we try to go. I used to walk do much, and i still fight it OFTEN! But, after so many times of doing it, I eventually made it to the top! You will, too!

And 4 miles is nothing to laugh at!

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 14:15:18

GREAT job Sunnyrun!!! I'm proud of you! I know how hard it is to get to a point of being able to run 4 miles. It is not an easy task. YEAH for you!!!!! Treat yourself to a "good ice" drink!

From Sunnyrun on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 15:02:23

That sounds very yummy - I love lemon ice! I never realized how hilly my area is until I started running. Next week is my week to make it up the hill, I can feel it!

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 15:52:33

Excellent! Keep that positive attitude!

I sure like lemon ice too! Great drink on those hot summer nights.

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 18:30:25

I have a little route I do, its straight, down,  then straight.  This morning I ran the opposite direction, so I ran up the hill instead of down it.  Had a good run - glad to be out

From jona on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 15:49:31

Good for you. Keep chipping away. One day, not to far away, you will look at those 2 miles and consider them to be your cool down miles.

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:38:00

WOW, doing a hill on purpose! Good for you!

Running MilesSwimming YardsBike Miles
1.000.005.50

With reading everyones miles/splits I have been wondering how fast I can run a mile.  So I rode my bike to the track and ran a mile. 9:41 not bad, However, I couldnt have keep running, I had to walk another half mile just to catch my breath.  But I felt good about it.  I got out of bed, rode to the track, ran, walked and rode home.  Not bad for a Friday.

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:28:03

Note to self: I ran one extra mile this week - yea!!!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:43:51

GREAT WORK! That is a fast mile, especially for just starting out! You are gonna be kickin' me in the pants soon enough!

From jona on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:55:01

YEA for you! Now you know where you are. Now you can test how you are doing in a week or two. YEA!!!! You will ba amazed how things will come together. Soon you will run 9:30 and only take 50 yards to catch your breath.

Good job Kid!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:57:55

BTW, I am no expert in this field at all, BUT I found that doing sprints really has helped me with catching my breath. I am sure there is some kind of scientific evidence or proof out there for it, but I dunno what it is! I will just say it really helped me, so maybe you can add some of that when you go to the track.

Okay, that is the last time I will offer up advice, cause that is really the only advice I have!

From jona on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 17:11:05

Kelli, I agree! I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable runners here can give better reasons, but I think it goes like this. We have to teach our bodies to perform, if all we ever do is walk, our body (muscles/lungs/cardo ...) will only be taught how to perform at that level. If we sprint we teach our body how to perform at that more demanding level.

BUT, this is just my little brain trying to figure out this stuff. More/better advice is out there!

Oh, and I need to be better at doing it too!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 17:38:01

I was given advice to help me build up my endurance. So, I followed that advice but it included NO speedwork/sprinting/intervals whatever you want to call it. I GOT SLOWER within just a few weeks. I do not want to get slower, so I put the speedwork back in. I do want to gain endurance, but I would rather not lose any speed while doing it.

So, I think we just need a little bit of everything! Now, if you want to be an elite runner of some sort, I am sure the advice is different. For me, and it sounds like for you, Sunnyrun and Jon, I just want to get a little bit faster each time I do something. I just want to see improvement.

This being serious stuff is so not me, but LOOK---I am posting only about running! But, I do have opinions. I have read books and magazines and online articles. I have talked to a lot of really good and GREAT runners. I think the key is just finding what works for you. Everything anyone suggests is worth a try, it just might not be a fit for you. Does that make any sense???

So, my point---try some sprints or intervals during your running. It MIGHT really help! If it doesn't, shoot me and try something else!

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 18:28:58

Thanks you two! That TOTALLY helps, I have no idea what Im doing out there, so any advice is great!

Good job. One day at a time! I'm not sure I believe the bit about not having fun. St G is just one big party isn't it?

Sunnyrun 1 - Bed 0. Your winning!

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 20:10:17

Jon beat me to comment! Darn him. 1 mile is better than none! Try to take a nap (as if a mom ever can).

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:06:10

SG is very fun! I thought of you both out there running Saturday up Hobble Creek. Watch out next year - hehe

From jona on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:23:27

Sunnyrun, we are going to hold you to that, next year!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:59:11

I loved that race. It is pretty (a little hot) and fast. I can not wait to do it again and do even better---now that I have seen the course and know what to expect. Someone had told me there was this big hill towards the end, so I was holding out for it. It wasn't that big (although it wasn't fun or easy). Now I KNOW.

From jona on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:36:24

Kelli, That big hill? That was where you CHICKED me! You were just so excited that you got to chick another guy that you didn't even notice the hill. :-)

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:40:49

Too funny! Awesome, way to go girl!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:42:16

It was not a big hill---at least not what it was made out to be. But, YES!! I chicked you there. To make you feel better, I have a thing with hills---I try to get up them as fast as I can (not necessarily a sprint, but with as much as I have without killing myself). We run hills every day because it is all we have where we live! Anyway, if i do not really push it up a hill, I will quit and walk it. I struggled with that cause I so DID NOT want to chick you, but I had to get going before my legs stopped moving!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:51:31

Yes, Sunnyrun, next year year you can come up here and chick him with me!

Sorry, Jon, just teasing you! I REALLY did not want it to happen (only cause I did not have my SHIRT!)

From jona on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 13:06:57

Its ok. I have it coming. I will just use it as motivation to be better. I doubt I will ever run another race in my life now, but will train as if I were.

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 13:10:13

You better run a race again! Im plotting my SG races right now (Im glad my boss isnt a runner, or else he might see that Im blog'in instead of work'in) lol There are some good races coming up in the next few months that will be fun!

From jona on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 14:28:39

You just want to CHICK me! I'm a marked man now.

You women should carry little bright orange stickers that read "CHICKED" and slap them on the back of all the guys you chick! I probably shouldn't add any fuel to your idea fires.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 15:33:03

Oh my heck!!! That is the BEST idea ever. EVER.

You will run. What if I say I can get you in to St George (not that I can), but then would you run???

From jona on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 15:49:35

I would give it a try, I don't know that I would be ready at all!!!!!!! My longest run/best training week was last week. I would have what 4-5 weeks to train, get A TON of miles in, then no tapper. I would be getting a 5 hr beating!

I would not give you the chance to put a sticker on me, I would start behind you and stay there!!!!!!!! :-)

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 16:03:33

Then, you should train like you are going! You never know what might happen between now and then. Plus, you can commiserate with the rest of us.

My longest run ever was 15.5 miles before TOU last year. We never did more than 40 miles a week. I finished just under 4 hours. So, unless you are trying to win or BQ, you would be fine!

I am sorry you are not feeling well! get better!

I do hear you on the sleep issue. I feel like CRUD, really. I am so tired and run down. Maybe when the kids finally start school next week I can squeeze in an afternoon nap (if my 3 year old will cooperate).

The only thing that has been running in my life this week is my NOSE!  After spending 5 days in Apsen, getting lots of rest I am finally starting to feel better today.   I hope as we drive back to SG the congestion will lessen as we lose altitude.  Good job to all my running heros who have continued to run run run!

I did go on a few hikes this week and was able to really enjoy Aspen.

Good for you on getting some work in. The altitude can really work you over.

I have never been there, but hear it is beautiful! Sorry you were miserable, but I hope you at least got to relax some. Have a safe drive home.

Not as much as it cooled down here! But, I love it!

I am feeling a lot better so I got up and hit the trail.  I walked part of it (didnt want to over do it hehe).  Last week I also gave up my Coffee and Soda.  Yes the past few years I have been faking a smile with the coffee to go.  Well, I kicked the habit and its been tough this week!  Nine days with out caffeine and I am tired!!  If I dont get some energy here in the next week, Im jumping off the wagon.

Ah, did you have headaches from you know where?

I give up diet coke every other week. Well, that is not true, I last longer than that. But, I never plan to give it up altogether, it is a nice treat at the movies!

Great job on getting back out there.

WOW! One whole mile this morning - but hey - Me-1 Bed-0.  My legs started off running this morning, before I got around the corner, my eyes and nose were running too.  I couldnt see!  This cold has drug on for almost 2 weeks now!  AHHH!  Oh well, most importantly I went out and tried.  I still think I should be able to count some of the miles I walked on Saturday at Cub Scout Day Camp on this report.  8a-2:30p with 17 Cub Scouts moving constantly.........should be worth a few miles :)  - OH and I have to admit - Day 10 with out caffeine - I felt BETTER! I wasnt as tired - yeaaa

I agree on the walking---it counts! I wish they would add that somewhere cause I walk a lot.

I did not honor you very well---I made it until 3:00 and then I just needed some caffeine! It is not an addiction, It just makes my upset stomach feel better---that is all!

Maybe I will travel to St George for the movie---I could use a break!

Had a good mile run then came home got my dog and son and went out for another mile.  We kindof inherited a English Bull dog a couple of weeks ago (loooong story).  She loves to run so I hooked her up to my sons Rip Stick, he jumped on and off we went up a hill - My son and I laughed so hard, the dog, Sheba, loved pulling him.  Im sure this will now be a morning routine - like I have time for that, but its the little memories that count.

Feeling better every day!  I need to double my running week from last week.  Im 2 down 6 to go. I saw a chick running without shoes on, just socks.  She was on the trail and ran further than I did, why would someone run in socks?  Question of the day

Comments
From Superfly on Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 11:53:57

Running barefoot or in her case socks can help strengthen the foot to prevent future injuries. Mostly the arch. It also helps you run more natural and works on your biomechanics. However most people only do it on the grass or something at the start and you have to slowly build into it.

2 More Miles down!  As I started out this morning I saw my son walking to his friends house to catch a ride to school.  I wanted to catch up to him, I knew that it was almost .5 miles to his house so I started running!  I caught him just as he was getting to the driveway.  He wasnt impressed with my running skills but I sure was.  3 mins to get there.

Last week while running,  the side of my knee hurt- my avid running friends said "you need new shoes" I bought new shoes from Steve during the Marathon Expo. They look and feel great. I went out this morning the first 1.6 miles I felt great - but thennnnnnnnnn. Im in pain - Ive been icing it all morning. Sitting is ok - Stairs, not an option. Its like its locked in place.

From jona on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 11:26:51

Ouch. So your knee feels locked up? You ran/went another 1.4 miles after the pain started? Shoes do need a break in period, I've heard 6 ish hours (walking/wearing). I suppose we need to give our body an adjustment period as well. Maybe you should wear your shoes walking for a couple days, 2 miles a day.

But, what do I know. FRUSTRATING for sure!!!

From Sunnyrun on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 11:36:00

From jona on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 23:54:09

I think that the point is, live to run another day! Go out, start off walking, build to a jog. At the first hint of pain, call it off. Walk home, live to run another day! You have many many many races and running days to come in your life, don't risk long term.

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 09, 2008 at 09:10:38

I just read this last night in RunnersWorld magazine. Do you want to run this month or do you want to run today or the rest of your life? Something like that. Good advice.

Hope it feels better soon and let us know how that race goes! And you can always walk in a race if you have to---finishing is all that matters.

When are you thinking you want to run a half? This spring, this summer, one year from now?

From sunnyrun on Mon, Dec 08, 2008 at 13:01:07

No later than Spring. I had wanted to run the Painters, but hurt my knee in October, just started running again. The most I have ever run is 4 miles. SO a half is huge for me. I have a lot of training to do.

From Teena on Mon, Dec 08, 2008 at 13:09:13

How about the Ogden Half in May? I love that course!! (Or are you wanting to stay close to home?)

From Kelli on Mon, Dec 08, 2008 at 13:50:08

Best of luck with the 25 miles, you can do it! Just keep that IT band all stretched out so you do not get hurt again!

We WILL see you when we all come down there for sure!!!

From Sunnyrun on Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 12:01:19

Did my little 1.2 loop this am.  I felt better than I have so I went one more block and into a cul-de-sac.

YEAH! Your going to get your 25! I'm happy for you. Keep it at 1.5 until you have done it a few times with no pain. YEAH!!!!!

From Sunnyrun on Fri, Dec 12, 2008 at 18:27:31

No pain is the key. Running the 3 miles last Saturday was not wise!! I hurt for 2 days after that. Small baby steps......

Remember this rule. You can only add 10% per week. So, if you go 10 miles this week, you can go 11 next week.

Glad your still going this week though.

Great job, just make sure you are stretching that IT band several times a day so the pain will stay away!

From Sunnyrun on Wed, Dec 24, 2008 at 11:05:18

Woke up at 4:30 (too stressed to sleep)  at 6 I got up and ran.  I havent run for over a week (I dont like the snow, rain or cold), about a mile into my loop my knee started tightening up, I finished my loop then walked another .5 mile to stretch it out a little.  I still need to be careful.   I fell short of my 25 mile goal for the month, but I made huge progress. Im pleased with my efforts.  Merry Christmas to all!!

Merry Christmas Sunnyrun!!

Congrats on the huge progress. You might want to consider yoga ... really good stretches. There is a dvd that you can buy at Target (and many other places) by Rodney Yee called "AM/PM Yoga." The AM portion is awesome and only lasts about 17 minutes. You might want to give it a try. Have a great Christmas!

Hey, the month is not over yet! You never know! I really think we have the same knee problem, It is just not getting better no matter what. STINK, as Teena would say!

Have a very Merry Christmas in "cold" St George!! Wish I were there! It is an absolute blizzard here today, but we have nowhere to be immediately, so all is well! Have a good one!
