Cold being....what, 50???? We were out playing at the park in Mesquite when it was 48!

Actually, I saw the weather this morning and it is unseasonable cold in St George right now, huh? So, you will have to tell us all how to dress for Painters. of course, we are used to the teens, so it might still feel great to us!

Good job this week!

are you a reporter in utah? just wondering, my boyfriend is a weather man jackson, ms.

good luck with your training! since you like swimming and biking too would you consider doing a sprint triathlon? i always wanted to but i just don't think i have the coordination to do anything but run :)

From jona on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 11:44:13

Good workout! See if you can go 2.5 or 3 miles this Sat. That will help you determine if you can get the 5k next week.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 13:25:34

K&J Im going to meet you at Painters finish line (after I run)

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:24:59

You will be meeting J a lot earlier than you will be meeting K!! Oh, how I want to just kick his trash, but, alas, he is faster than me.

From jona on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:29:15

Don't sandbag 'K'! You know you kick my trash anyway. :-) I think I will see if I can sneak some lead into your shoes so I stand a chance.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:38:14

I do not even know what sandbag means?!? BUT, I can not go faster than 9 minute miles right now, so you are safe THIS TIME!!! You just wait until next time, though, I will chick you when you least expect it! And I will get that darn shirt made.

From jona on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:41:18

Funny, I don't remember, what was that shirt going to read?

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:43:27

I just typed it all out but changed my mind. I will wear it next time that I decide to chick you (if there is a next time---maybe Scott can pull me on a sled or something as we run by!)

From jona on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:47:28

Now see, that is just rude, getting chicked by a girl in a sled. Wow, I better get training.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 18:48:53

Hey, blame skinny, speedy, scrawny SCOTT, not me!!! He will be pulling the sled!

From jona on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 19:08:12

I'm beginning to feel disliked. I think I'm a skinny, scrawny guy, something wrong with us? If I were speedy I would be offended.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 19:12:33

But you are tall, so it evens out. I forgot to add SHORT to the list of "s" words I am calling him today!

I like ya! And I like Scott, too, but I am annoyed at his skinniness today (or maybe this week).

It was great to meet you and your husband (I was out of it some, we were in the car for almost 10 hours with all of the licking people up and running errands in St George). Sorry our dinner was late and we were still eating, wish you guys could have hung out some later. I hope the "concert" went well and that your ears fared okay!!

You are adorable!!! Get your knee in line and join us next year. It was a great race.

Did Yogo and rode the bike.

After meeting a lot of northern runners this weekend prior to Painters, I feel inadequate being on this runners blog.  However, I get a lot of inspiration from everyone and one day when I finish a race, you all can say "I knew her when..."   Im still having constant pain with my hamstring, it feels like I have a wooden leg. My husband wants me to go to the doctor, but he will just tell me to stay off it and stretch, so I havent gone.

3 years ago I weighed 82 more lbs than I do now. I set a goal to run a 5k when I was 37, a 10k when I was 38 and a 1/2 when I was 39. I get to run a marathon when I am 40. I really never thought that I could do any of them, and yet I am :D Last weekend was my 39 year old 1/2.

Beautiful morning here is STG.  It must have rained during the night, the streets were a little wet.  It was a warm 50 degrees, it felt and smelled like a spring morning.

Took the dog for a mile run then a mile walk, rode the bike to stretch out my "peg leg".  Hammie still hurting.  Happy Friday!

Reevaluated my goals due to my "injury".  I have to get my head on straight and get out and move around.  I am gaining weight as I type!!

With my leg hurting, I didnt even attempt to run, did Yoga then went on a 2 mile walk.  Stretched a lot after wards.  Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are my days to be outside before work either walking or running.

I take my big American Bull dog with me in the mornings, this morning we were on our usual route when she spotted a rabbit. She took off like a bullet, dragging me along, we must have been at a 4 min mile pace for over a 100 yards, before I got her to stop.  I only out weigh her by about 35 pounds so it took every ounce of me to stop her. What an adventure.  We ended up on another street than I normally dont take but Im sure I still got my mile run in AND my mile walk.

Did AM/PM Yoga afterwards- it helps when I get up on time, I can accomplish a lot more before work.

Got a Pilates DVD from the Library yesterday.  Its a 40 minute workout, but broke down into 4, 10 minute work outs.  Depending on what time I roll out of bed, depends on many segments I can get through.  Today was a short and sweet 10 min.

I took advantage of the Beautiful weather here in STG and spent most of the day outside.  Before my runs I usually dont have/make time for a warm up, but today I walked over a half mile before I ran my 1.5 mile loop.  I think it really helped stretch my leg out before I ran , I'll need to do more of that this week.  Also went on a leisure bike ride with my husband and one of my sons. I woke up on time to get my little 1.5 mile run and yoga in but my two older boys are taking their UBSCT tests starting today, and I wanted them to have a healthy breakfast.  They usually pour a hefty bowl of cold cereal, but I want their minds sharp, and Captin Crunch dosnt cut it!

Theres something about Mom being in the kitchen that draws all the kids and conversations into it.  We had a great morning but by the time my husband took them to school it was 7:45.  Last month I would have bagged running, but not now, Im sticking to my goal!! Im So proud of myself!  I really struggle with time constraints .  I have so much on my plate and Im so worried about failure that I sometimes dont try, therefore I wont fail.  BAD BAD I know!

Today I walked/ran for 41 min.  I wanted to go 30 and I did it!  I ran a mile then walked then ran the other 1.5 miles.  My leg hurt in between but I walked with wide strides to stretch out my leg and was able to run again.  Now I know I can do it.  I can accomplishment my running goals (just got to keep my leg injury free).

My boys have basketball games tonight, if its not raining I will run when I drop them off instead of sitting there for 30 min prior to the game starting.  Got to use my time better!

From jona on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:02:41

Great idea, I can't tell you how many miles I have run after I drop kids off 30 min to an hour early for games. Some parents think I'm nuts, but you gotta do what you gotta do. One time I dropped off for a football game, it was rain/snow mixed and cold, I ran off and returned from the long run in time to see the last quarter of the game as I ran around the track to finish off my miles. My son understood, and I had a good show at the marathon I was training for 3 weeks later.

Keep on trucking kid!

Im doing better, on an anti-inflam and its working - YEA! I played a mean game of soccer with my kids yesterday after Conference, ran with out pain (even scored a goal). Doc said to stay off for 3 weeks, so next week Im heading out again. Thanks for the note!!

From Kelli on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 at 19:16:20 from 71.219.95.20

I am so glad it is starting to get better!!! Conference Sunday can be so long, we should have gone outside instead of sitting on our rumps eating all day. What were we thinking???? We even had temps of about 45 for a change!!!

My hip is okay. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. I only ran 8 miles last week, so I am feeling pretty good right now.

I will be checking back to see how the activity goes once you get the green light.

Since my last run I have really worked hard to get healthy and healed. In my life thats making a lot of changes but Ive done it!  Ive kicked my liquid consumption, went to the Dr about my knee, (Im taking Diclofenac which has taken 99% of the pain away) and Ive stretched daily for my hamstring pull.  I have ridden my stationary bike a few times, played soccer, baseball and woffelball with my kids without pain for the past 3 weeks.  Ive come to the realization that I will never be a "real runner" like others on this blog, but I can still go out there and run and feel good about doing it. I can spend 15 min a day on the stationary bike and I can run a mile every day. I will find the time to do that for myself!

Overall I am feeling better, Im a little nervouse to try running again but I think Im ready.  Tommorrow is the big day (as long as the weather holds up)  :)

WHAT IS A REAL RUNNER???? A runner is a runner, and that means anyone who runs at all (even if it is shuffling!)

You are beautiful, so who cares about running if it hurts?? Being beautiful is enough!!!! If you love biking, stick with that. But, I am wishing you luck on your run tomorrow---if that is what you want to be able to do every once in a while, I want it to work for you!

I did it!  I ran a mile this am.  I felt like a ton of bricks.  Every step was like running through knee deep mud.  I could see where I needed to go to get to the .5 mile marker - I kept my eyes fixed on it and just kept trudging along. Made it there, turned and kept running back.  I finished the mile, did a little walk cool down, then rode the bike inside.  Finished with a great stretch. So far, no pain in knee or hamstring.  Lungs hurt a little but thats because I havent used them in 2 months.

YEAH!!!!! I am so glad there was no pain. Just take it easy so it will stay that way. Some days are like that (running through the mus) no matter how much and how far and how often you run. You need to find someone to run with you, then it will keep your mind off of it. Move here, I will volunteer for the job!

Have a good day you runner!!!

My leg was a little tight Wednesday, so I didnt try running yesterday or today.  But tomorrow we are heading to Vegas and I plan on running/walking with my sister in law there.  Its amazing how fast muscle can turn to jiggle, but just after running once this week I can feel those muscles again (Im sore from running a mile - lol).  But its a good sore!!  By mid May I wont be singing "Watch it jiggle, see it wiggle" as I run.

My sons started a paper route today and it was one of those nights where there were 10 things to get done in between 5-7:30.  Being the awesome Mom that I am... : )  I helped them out with the route.  I rode my bike with sacks of papers and maneuvered with ease for 45 min while fighting the elements of dogs, cars and 95+ heat.

My discovery with this is that riding outside is much more difficult than riding the stationary bike inside.  I dont know how far I rode so I came home and rode another 5 miles (just so I could post something).  I strated taking my anti-inflammatory medicine again, my IT is starting to hurt.
